Vegas Play By Play, Part 2!

Alright, so when I last left off, I had just gone to bed after eating my sourdough toast at the Garden Cafe. This brings us to Friday morning. I slept until about 10:30, woke up, and just lounged around. Dave and Tami had gone to the gym downstairs (who works out on their vacation?) and said they'd let me know when they were done. Jade and Jeff invited me to the lunch buffet but I wasn't dressed. As I was finishing up getting ready, I heard a knock on my door...it was Dave and Tami...and they brought me Starbucks!!! Yay! They went off to get ready and Jade and Jeff came up to my room.

We all decided (once everyone was ready) to hit up the Whole Foods to buy some alcoholic beverages for our rooms. We picked up some Guinness, some Oatmeal Stout (which was mine and turns out, it wasn't that good), and some Harp. We then made a stop at another liquour store because Jade and Jeff couldn't find actual alcohol at Whole Foods. The liquour store was conveniently located next to a Subway. Dave, Tami, and I were starving so we ate at Subway before we continued on with our day.

Tami had done some research of bars that were off the strip. She found an English bar she wanted to try, the Crown and Anchor. So after we left Subway, we went on our search to find it. And we did. It was a pretty big place, big bar, lots of English people, and lots of beer on tap! Dave started chatting with an English bloke (if you will) who was on holiday for a month. We drank a couple of beers, ate some chips (fresh out of the fryer), and then left...a pretty cool spot...maybe we'll stay longer next time. After we left the Crown and Anchor, we went back to the hotel to just chill for a while before we went out for dinner and our first night at the Nine Fine Irishmen. We decided to meet up at around 8 pm to grab dinner at the NFI and then hang out there with Sin e Ri-Ra.

We cruised over to the NYNY and got our table. This was Jeff's first visit to the NFI...he seemed pretty excited about eating some Shepard's Pie. Dave ordered a Guinness bomb, like he does...and that was entertaining. And while we were eating, we could hear Ri-Ra start up...and conveniently, we were sitting right where they come off and on stage in the back...so we got to see them when they were wandering around. For those of you who don't know, every time we go to Vegas, we hit up the NFI and listen to the band. They are freaking awesome and I have a little crush on the lead singer Darryl. Last year, Kermit made it up on stage and got to sit on Darryl's guitar while he played a song. They sing 3 sets of Irish music (which we know the words to, for the most part), and then the last set is music we know...such as U2, The Killers, Van Morrison, Neil Diamond, etc, etc. So it's a good 4 hours of music. Once we finished our meals, we got up, ordered our Magners, our Murphys, and our Guinness and took our places front row center.

We stood for most of the evening, enjoying the music (I was enjoying staring at Darryl), but at some point, me, Jade, and Jeff sat down. However, once the 4th set started, me and Jade stood up...Jeff had gone back to the hotel (he wasn't quite used to being up so late). We rocked out to some great music; did a little dancing; watched Susie Big Tits (some random drunk girl with gigantic boobs) dance around, flirt with every guy in the bar and Darryl; and then it happened. Kermit was dancing too, and Darryl noticed him and remembered him from last year!! So Kermit was invited back up on stage, where he took his place on the mic stand! He sat up there for one song and had a great time.

After we left the NFI, Tami wanted some french fries from McDonalds. We hit up McDonalds in the Excalibur on our way back to our hotel, grabbed some fries, ate them, and then continued on back to our hotel. By then, we were all pretty tired, so we headed to our rooms and went to bed!

Day 2 was successful...a pretty quiet day, a great evening at the NFI, and some great Irish music! We knew there was more in store the next day...

To Be Continued...
